Derby County, Norwich City lining up move for Sam Morsy – Report
The Egyptian was heavily linked with a move to Championship side Barnsley after spending the first-half of last season on loan, but he opted to return back to Wigan Athletic.
Sam Morsy is considered one of the key players at the Latics after being signed from Chesterfield in the January of 2016. He made 49 appearances for Wigan since his arrival, guiding them to the League One title in his debut season.
The 26-year-old has had a bright start in League One with Wigan this season, contributing to two goals in 15 matches, which is double his tally from last season
He could be tempted to be back again in the EFL Championship as Norwich and Derby are keeping tabs on the right-footed midfielder, according to the Daily Mail.
If Morsy reached an agreement with Derby County, he will be the second Egyptian to play for the Rams after Hossam Ghaly, who had a brief stint on loan in 2008.
Derby County currently sit 8th in the Championship with 26 points, three more than Norwich City who are 12th, and both sides are hopeful they can return back to the Premier League.
The Pharaoh’s contributions have helped Wigan reach second place in League One this season. They host Doncaster on Tuesday evening as they look to climb up the League One table to become league leaders.
