OFFICIAL: Straka resigns as Smouha manager
Smouha president Mohamed Farag Amer has confirmed that Straka has handed in his resignation, adding that his contract was terminated by mutual agreement without any fees to be paid to the Czech coach.
“Straka resigned for personal reasons at the meeting we had on Wednesday. We have terminated his contract by mutual consent,” Amer revealed.
“Mimi Abdelrazek will temporarily take over first team coaching duties,” Amer added.
The 59-year-old Czech coach had previously coached Ismaily. He took over at Smouha following the departure of Mo’men Soliman after a disappointing season, which saw Smouha finish in fifth place – 27 points off champions Al Ahly.
Smouha are currently in sixth place in the Egyptian Premier League with 16 points from 11 games. Straka’s last game in charge was Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Ittihad of Alexandria.
The Alexandria-based team will return to league play on Sunday December 3 against Arab Contractors.
