SQUASH: Egypt beat England to lift World Team Championships title
Egypt have been crowned Men’s Squash World Championship champions after beating defending champions England 2-0 in the final game.
The Pharaohs were represented in the tournament by Marwan El Shorbagy, Karim Abdel Gawad, Ali Farag and Ramy Ashour. They managed to reach the final game after defeating Scotland and Hong Kong in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.
Meanwhile, England reached the final after knocking out India and arch-rivals Australia in their first two games to face Egypt.
In the final game, the Pharaohs came through as winners, beating England 2-0, with Karim Abdel Gawad and Ali Farag coming out on top in their two matches against Nick Matthew and James Willstrop respectively.
This is the fourth time the Egyptian men’s team have managed to lift the title, only Australia, Pakistan and England have managed to win it more.
