Mohamed El-Shennawy to miss Assiouty game for injury
Since the CAF Champions League final defeat against Wydad Casablanca, El-Shennawy started for Al Ahly in all their domestic league’s matches taking advantage of Sherif Ekramy’s muscular injury and being the protagonist for the Red Devils in their games against Ismaily and Al Masry.
Al Ahly have confirmed through their official website that the 28-year-old goalkeeper has sustained a groin injury and will be forced the Assiouty match.
Al Ahly team doctor Khaled Mahmoud has presented his medical report advising the coaching staff to leave him out of the upcoming tie. Accordingly, Al Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry decided to not risk the player so his injury doesn’t aggravate.
With El-Shennawy on the sidelines, Egypt international Sherif Ekramy is set to regain his starting spot for the first time since the game against Wydad Casablanca in Morocco.
