Shikabala features as Al Hilal thrash Al Raed in Saudi Pro League
Few minutes after the kick-off whistle, Mohammed Jahfali gave Al Hilal the lead as he reacted smoothly to Salman Al-Faraj’s corner and netted the header, making it 1-0 for the visitors.
In the 23rd minute, Abdurahman Al-Shammeri picked up an injury and was replaced by Egypt international Shikabala.
Venezuelan striker Gelmin Rivas almost made 2-0, when he cleverly received the ball on his chest and beat the goalkeeper, but English referee Mark Clattenburg ruled out the goal as Rivas used his arm.
12 minutes later, Rivas added his name on the score-sheet when converted Mohamed Kanno’s pass into the back of the net.
Al Raed had zero shots on target throughout the first-half, yet, Shikabala tried to give his team some confidence in the last minutes, as he launched a nice curler towards the goal, but it went inches wide.
The second-half proceeded as previous, Al Hilal kept creating chances and in the 57th minute they were awarded a penalty when Abdullah Al-Zori fell down in the penalty area and Salman Al-Faraj calmly converted, to secure his side the three points.
Following the clash, Al Raed currently sit bottom of the league with only nine points, while Al Hilal top the league with 26 points and still have two games in hand.
Shikabala’s side next game will be against Mahmoud Kahraba’s Ittihad Jeddah, who sit sixth, on Saturday, December 9.
