VIDEO: Al Ahly remain unbeaten after win against Assiouty

extended their winning streak in the league to eight matches with a 1-0 victory over in a postponed match from gameweek 7.

The Red Devils entered the match with 22 points from eight games, while Assiouty Sport entered in 12th place with 13 points from 11 games.

Al Ahly keeper Sherif Ekramy made a return to the starting eleven in place of injured Mohamed El-Shennawy, while Amr El Sulaya and Mo’men Zakaria returned in place of Ahmed Fathi and Walid Soliman, respectively.

In as early as the third minute, Al Ahly had their first chance through El Sulaya, but Assiouty goalkeeper Essam Tharwat did well to save the shot. Moroccan forward Walid Azaro had a chance to put Al Ahly ahead in the 12th minute, but his shot went slightly wide.

Even though Al Ahly had greater possession, the Assiouty players did well to intercept and block the Red Devils’ chances throughout the half. On the half-hour mark, Al Ahly were dealt another injury blow with Mohamed Naguib having to come on in place of Saad Samir.

In the second half, Al Ahly began on top but Essam Tharwat once again made great saves to keep them at bay. Less than ten minutes into the second half, Abdallah El-Said scored his second goal of the season from a curling shot from right inside the box.

Al Ahly continued to have chances to double their lead, including a canceled goal for Junior Ajayi, but were unable to add a second past Tharwat.

The result moves Al Ahly to second place with 25 points from nine games, while Assiouty remain in 12th place with 13 points from 12 games.

Al Ahly will next face Misr El-Makassa on December 10 in a postponed match from the second week of the . Assiouty Sport, on the other hand, will face Ittihad of Alexandria in the round of 16 of the Cup.
