Sadio Mane believes Liverpool belong in the Champions League
Liverpool will guarantee qualification for the last 16 if they defeat Spartak Moscow at Anfield on Wednesday night, Mane is hopeful that he will be able to help lead the attack against the Russian club.
Mane spoke on reaching the next stage in the Champions league, citing it as the “dream of each player in the world,” and insisted on the importance of going through for the club.
“Liverpool is a big and great club. We want to play a big part in the Champions League, and go as far as we can. I think we have scored more goals than many big teams. We just want to keep winning games.”
The 25-year-old described their game against their Russian opponents as one of the biggest games of the season, “we know it will be tough but we know we can beat any team in the world.”
Last season the club relied heavily on Mane, but this time around the responsibility lies on top scorer Mohamed Salah. “I am happy for Mo [Salah]. He is playing so well,” Mane said. “It is up to the rest of us to score more goals and provide more assists.
“We are working hard every single day to be difficult for the defenders. We’re going to try to do our best and cause as many problems as we can for the Spartak defenders.”
A win against the Russian side would ensure Liverpool a spot in the next round of the competition.
