Randa Mahmoud wins gold at World Para Powerlifting Championships
Mahmoud, who won two Paralympic medals in the 2012 Paralympic games in London and the 2016 Paralympic games in Rio de Janeiro, added another achievement to her career after surpassing her opponents on Friday at Juan de la Barrera Olympic Gymnasium.
The Egyptian powerlifter was up for a tough challenge against London 2012 gold medallist Loveline Obiji in the women’s over 86kg category, but she successfully managed to join fellow Egyptian powerlifters Sherif Osman who won the gold medal at the in the 59kg category after lifting 205kg and 2010 World Champion Gehan Hassan who lifted 125kg and won bronze in the women’s 86kg category.
Egypt’s Rehab Ahmed also won gold earlier on Wednesday in the Women’s Up to 50kg Group A Category.
