Calderon scores as Ismaily defeats Zamalek
Diego Calderon scored as Ismaily defeated Zamalek 1-0 in the 13th fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.
Both teams tried to maintain position and control the game in order to break the dead-lock.
In the 28th minute, Ismaily’s Calderon tried to open the scoring, but his close range shot hit the side netting.
Zamalek dominated the last 10 minutes of the first half, but they couldn’t break into Ismaily’s defense.
13 minutes after the restart, Ismaily managed to open the scoreline as Calderon sent a stunning volley into the back of Ahmed El-Shennawy’s net.
Six minutes before full-time, El Shamy set up a cross in the penalty area, but Kasongo’s shot went wide.
In the dying moments of the game, Calderon got sent off after receiving a second yellow card following a foul on Obama.
Seconds before full-time, El Shamy received a cross in the six-yard box, but Awad brilliantly cleared the danger.
Following the match, Ismaily cemented their position at the top of the league table with 30 points, while Zamalek occupy the fifth league spot with 19 points.
The Darawish are set to face El Geish on the 19th of December, while, the White Knights will face Ittihad of Alexandria on the 20th of the same month.
