Al Ahly have invited former captain and Zamalek’s loanee to play in their friendly game against Atlético Madrid at Borg El-Arab.

Al Ahly have announced that the game will be played under the title “Peace against terrorism” and will take place at Borg El-Arab on Saturday, December 30, with the La Liga outfit arriving on a private plane one day before the encounter.

The club’s board had already extended an invitation to Kahraba’s teammate Fahad Al Muwallad, United Arab Emirates’ Ahmed Khalil, Omar Abdulrahman, and Ismail Matar, Bahrain’s Sayed Diaa and Ismail Abdel-Latif and Saudi Arabia captain Taisir Al Jassim.

Hossam Ghaly will lead Al Ahly again after leaving the Red Castle last summer to join Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr. The 35-year-old is a club legend, having won four league titles, two Champions Leagues, three Egypt Cup titles, and one Confederation Cup.

On the other hand, Mahmoud Kahraba, who is currently on loan at Ittihad Jeddah from Al Ahly’s arch-rivals Zamalek, could wear the Reds’ shirt for the first time since departing them in 2011.

The Egypt international started his career at Al Ahly’s youth team, where he scored 36 goals in 20 appearances and formed a deadly duo with current Kasımpaşa player Mahmoud Trezeguet, however he didn’t get his chance and joined ENPPI after the youth team was dissolved in 2011.

This will become Atletico’s second visit to Egypt after they played a friendly in 2011 against Zamalek to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the founding of the White Knights.
