Egypt win third place in COSAFA U-20 Championship

 national team managed to win third place in the 24th edition of the U-20 Cup after defeating Uganda in the third-place play-off.

The Young Pharaohs started the competition, winning their opening two games against Mozambique and Mauritius, however they suffered a 2-1 defeat against South Africa, who topped the group with nine points.

Despite finishing second in group B, Egypt have managed to get through to the semis to face South Africa after finishing as the best-placed runner-up among the three groups, yet, they lost 1-0 and were set to play against Uganda in the third-place play-off.

Egypt defeated Uganda 3-1 as Roshdy Ashraf scored two goals in the 19th and 59th minutes while Abdelrahman Amr ‘Bogy’ scored the third goal in the dying minutes of the game. Khaled Bassiouny also won the Player of the Match Award.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
