Penalty goal condemns Etoile Sahel to defeat against Club Africain
Etoile Sahel suffered a second consecutive Tunisian Classico loss in a week’s time after defeat to Club Africain, in Rades.
The Sousse side had been beaten at home by CS Sfaxien last Sunday, ending a 40-match unbeaten home run. Another streak Etoile Sahel enjoyed came to an end against Club Africain – they had not lost to the Tunis side since 2010.
There was little to write home in the encounter between the two rivals. The big moment of the tie came early in the first half when Club Africain was awarded a penalty.
A poor corner by the visitors, Etoile, was converted into a counter-attack led by Bilel Khefifi. The midfielder beat a marker and his following shot was blocked by Ben Amor’s arm.
The referee awarded a penalty, which was put into the net by Zemzemi in the 24th minute. Despite changes by the visitors, the score remain unchanged and Club Africain claimed an important win.
Etoile Sahel remain fourth in the Tunisian league, on 20 points and now have to contend with Club Africain who have reduced the gap between the two sides to two points.
