Ismaily’s Diego Calderon wishes to play for Egypt
Ismaily striker Diego Calderon spoke about his experience in the Egyptian Premier League and wishes to earn the Egyptian nationality to play with the Pharaohs.
Calderon, who joined Ismaily in January 2017 on a free transfer from Mexico’s second tier Alebrijes de Oaxaca, shined recently after scoring seven goals in the league with the Mango Boys in 13 matches and two goals from two games in Egypt Cup.
“Egypt is a great team, they will play in a tough group in the World Cup, I think Uruguay will be the toughest match for them,” he told ON Sport TV channel.
As for his view about playing for the Pharaohs: “It will be a great honor to play for Egypt, it will be wonderful if I managed to get the Egyptian nationality and get a chance to play with them.”
He also spoke about the Cairo giants Al Ahly and Zamalek saying that they both have a good squad but they are more interested in attacking than defending. “To me, Petrojet has the strongest defense in the league, that’s how they were when we faced them” he added.
