El-Maqassa chairman reveals Al Ahly’s interest in El-Shahat
Misr El-Maqassa chairman Mohamed Abdel-Salam revealed that Al Ahly are currently in negotiations with the club to sign their right back Hussein El-Shahat.
The 26-year-old scored nine goals in the league this season with El-Maqassa and made four assists in 15 appearances. Earlier, he said that playing for Al Ahly or Zamalek would be an achievement for him like any other player in the Egyptian League.
“Al Ahly spoke with us about acquiring El-Shahat’s services,” Abdel-Salam said in TV comments. “The club did not make any financial offers yet, but we are set to meet to discuss the needed details.”
The president assured that his team still need the player especially that he is now performing very well. The Fayoum-based club is currently eighth in the league table with 20 points after 16 matches.
“Our talks with Al Ahly were about El-Shahat but I’ve heard others saying that they are also interested in signing Ahmed Sami,” he added. “We are currently aiming to strengthen our squad by signing players from Al Ahly and Zamalek but I will not talk about any names now.”
When asked about Zamalek losing interest in signing the player according to Mortada Mansour’s comments as he said that the Whites will acquire the services of a right back who is better than El-Shahat in January, Abdel-Salam assured that Zamalek cannot ignore El-Shahat as he is a special player.
