Official: Ahmed El-Sheikh joins Saudi side Ettifaq on loan
Al Ahly midfielder Ahmed El-Sheikh has joined Saudi Arabian side Ettifaq on a six-month loan deal, the Saudi side announced on Wednesday.
KingFut has previously revealed that the Saudi Pro League side have made an enquiry over the availability of El-Sheikh during the winter transfer window.
The 25-year-old, who arrived at Al Ahly in the summer of 2015, finished as Egyptian Premier League top scorer last season while on loan at his former club Misr El-Makassa.
He hasn’t been getting enough playing time since his return to the Red Castle as he made 10 league appearances with the Red Devils so far this season, scoring two goals against Tala’a El Gaish and ENPPI.
He renewed his contract with Al Ahly and will be joining Ettifaq until the end of the season. The Dammam-based side sit in the relegation zone as they occupy the 12th position of the Saudi Pro League table with 14 points from 14 games.
El-Sheikh is the second player to leave Al Ahly during the January transfer window, as veteran striker Emad Meteb joined Saudi Arabian side Al Taawoun on Tuesday. Several reports have also claimed that Momen Zakaria might be joining UAE side Emirates FC.
He becomes the eighth Egyptian player in the Saudi league this season as he joins compatriots Essam El-Hadary, Mostafa Fathi, Hossam Ghaly, Mahmoud Abdel-Razik Shikabala, Emad Meteb, Mohamed Abdel-Shafy and Mahmoud Kahraba.
