Makassa’s Hussein El-Shahat joins UAE side Al Ain
Misr El-Makassa star Hussein El-Shahat has joined UAE side Al Ain on loan until the end of the season, Makassa chairman announced.
KingFut has revealed on Sunday that the 25-year-old midfielder is on the verge of completing his move to the UAE side during the winter transfer window.
Despite being repeatedly linked with a move to Egyptian champions Al Ahly, El-Shahat will now play at the UAE Arabian Gulf League until the end of the season.
Misr El-Makassa chairman Mohamed Abdel-Salam said on Monday morning that Cairo giants Al Ahly refused to pay more than 6m EGP for signing El-Shahat while Makassa had put a price-tag of 10m EGP, so they agreed to Al Ain’s lucrative deal.
“The player was loaned to Al Ain for $500,000 [around 8.8m EGP],” Abdel-Salam said in a radio interview on Monday morning.
“He signed the contracts and will travel to the UAE within days,” he added.
The in-form player scored nine goals in the league this season and made four assists in 16 league appearances with the Fayoum-based club, who currently sit 11th on the league table with 20 points after 17 matches.
Meanwhile, Al Ain top the UAE league with 25 points after 11 games, recording seven wins and four draws.
