OFFICIAL: Zamalek release Syria international Alaa Al Shbli

Zamalek have terminated the contract of Syria international defender by mutual consent, the White Castle have announced.

The 27-year-old joined the Whites on a free transfer from Iraqi side Naft Al-Wasat, but that deal ended after the defender failed to make a single appearance during his time at the Cairo giants.

The Whites confirmed that the Syrian will depart, hours after the arrival of Tunisia international Hamdy Nagguez, who is expected to become the club’s first choice right-back.

They also have Hazem Emam, Osama Ibrahim, Ahmed Magdi and Ahmed Tawfik as other options in this position.

Al Shbli becomes the second Syrian to be released this January after Abdallah El-Shamy, who joined Al Masry on a free transfer following his contract cancellation by Al Ahly.

Zamalek currently sit fourth in the Egyptian Premier Leauge with 28 points, 11 behind leaders Al Ahly and their next game will be against Entag El-Harby on Sunday, January 14.
