Egyptian exports and continue to don number 74 abroad in memory of the fallen Al Ahly supporters in the Portsaid Stadium massacre.

Egyptians’ affection to the fallen victims of the massacre has always been strong, and was shown in the shape ofdonating blood during the incident to football legends talking about it and even visiting the victims’ families to support them from a moral perspective.

Number 74 represents the number of the martyrs that lost their lives in the tragedy, with players like Amr Warda and Mohamed Salah at PAOK and Fiorentina respectively putting on the number 74 shirt in honour of the passing fans.

Meteb continued the trend as he also chose to wear shirt number 74 after joining Saudi Arabian, Al Taawoun, on loan and lastly Hussein El-Shahat who made the switch to Emirati club, Al Ain on loan from Misr El-Makassa.

Youssef Wael is a massive Al Ahly and Manchester United supporter from Cairo, Egypt. One of the few Egyptians who never really wanted to have a career in football, just played it as a hobby. Wael also played squash for 7 years.
