Burkinabe defender Patrick Malo joins Wadi Degla
Burkina Faso and Smouha center-back Patrick Malo has completed a move to struggling Wadi Degla.
The Burkinabé moved to Smouha in 2016 from Algerian side JS Kabylie. Since then, he made 31 appearances for the Alexandria-based team in the league and cup, scoring two goals and assisting another.
The 25-year-old was also part of the Burkina Faso team that played in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and finished in third place after beating Ghana 1-0.
The move comes as Wadi Degla continue to make changes to the squad, hoping to improve from a poor start to the season. After 17 games, Degla currently sit in 15th place with 15 points, just two points off the relegation zone.
Following the resignation of Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido’ and the hiring of Tarek El-Ashry last month, Degla’s results improved as they recorded a win over Al Masry in the Cup and drew 1-1 with Al Ahly in the league.
They have already completed the signing of Ahmed Eid Abdelmalak, hoping to boost the team away from relegation.
Wadi Degla’s next match will be against Al Masry on January 16 in the 18th week of the Egyptian Premier League.
