VIDEO: Shikabala scores as Al Raed draw Al Taawoun

scored while Essam El Hadary and featured as drew Al Taawoun 2-2 in the 17th week of the Saudi Professional League. 

Al Raed entered the match in last place with just 12 points from 16 games, while Al Taawoun came in at eighth place with 20 points from 16 games.

Derby Qassim began at a fast pace and a foul inside the box from Al Raed right back Kassim Abdullah saw Al Taawoun awarded a penalty in the third minute. Jufain Al Bishi scored his second goal of the season from the spot to put Al Taawoun up early on.

However, Al Taawoun’s lead was short lived as Yahya Al Muslim equalized for Al Raed only a minute later from Sultan Al Sawadi’s assist. Al Raed’s equalizer was Al Muslim’s second goal of the season in all competitions.

From there, Al Taawoun continued to dominate the match, but a smart pass from Daniel Amora reached Shikabala who danced around Essam El Hadary to score his sixth goal of the season in the league and Al Raed’s second of the Debry. Emad Meteb made his Al Taawoun debut just two minutes later in place of striker Alhaji Kamara.

Though Al Taawoun was superior in possession by the end of the first half, Al Raed had four shots on target in comparison to Al Taawoun’s one.

The second half saw action from both sides as Al Taawoun continued to dominate. Both Al Raed and Al Taawoun created many chances, but were unable to clinically convert. Syrian Jehad Al Hussein had a great cross in the 80th minute, but no one was able to connect.

In the dying minutes of the match, Yahya Al Muslim scored an own goal to equalize for Al Taawoun.

The result keeps Al Raed in last place with 13 points from 17 games, while Al Taawoun also remains in eighth place with 21 points from 17 games. Al Raed will next face Al Hilal on January 30 in the 18th week of the Saudi Professional League, while Al Taawoun will face Al Nassr on January 30.
