Hossam Ashour: I want to be most titled player in the world
Al Ahly captain Hossam Ashour expressed his happiness after winning the Super Cup and spoke about personal and team aspirations in the next period.
Ashour, who has been playing with Al Ahly for more than thirteen years, added the 33rd title to his list of trophies after the Red Devils defeated Al Masry 1-0 in the Super Cup match, which was the first trophy he lifted as the team’s captain.
“Winning the Super Cup gave the team a big boost and will have a good impact on our performances this season in both local and African competitions,” the 31-year-old told Al Ahly official website.
Ashour said that he wants to continue winning championships as the team’s captain and to achieve his personal goal of becoming the most titled player in the world, especially that he is only four championships away from reaching this goal.
Brazilian full-back Maxwell is currently the most titled football player winning 37 trophies at club level. Ashour is also competing with Dani Alves who won 34 titles and Zlatan Ibrahimovic who won the same number of titles as the Egyptian midfielder.
Regarding the national team, Ashour confirmed that he is doing his best to perform well with his club to gain Hector Cuper’s trust in the next period assuring that going to the FIFA World Cup in Russia next summer is one of his most important goals.
