Official: Algeria’s Raïs M’Bolhi joins Saudi side Ettifaq
Algerian goalkeeper Raïs M’Bolhi has joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq until the end of the season, the club announced.
M’Bolhi joined the Saudi side on a free transfer after he terminated his contract with French side Stade Rennais in November. The 31-year-old had joined the Ligue 1 side in the 2017 January transfer window from Turkish side Antalyaspor, where he spent one-and-a-half seasons.
He had also plied his trade at the MLS with Philadelphia Union, Bulgaria’s CSKA Sofia and Greek side Panetolikos, among others.
He made 55 appearances with The Desert Warriors and put in strong performances during their 2014 World Cup campaign.
The Saudi Pro League side have Egypt international Ahmed El-Sheikh within their ranks. The 25-year-old midfielder joined Ettifaq from Cairo giants Al Ahly on a six-month loan deal during the winter transfer window. They now sit 13th on the Saudi league table with 15 points from 16 games.
