Hussein El-Shahat named in Al Ain’s Champions League squad
El-Shahat completed a six-month loan move to Al Ain from Misr El-Makassa in early January in a transfer that cost the Emirati club around $500,000.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has featured in one league game, where he scored on his debut, against Al Wasl and also made an appearance for the Boss in the domestic Cup against Al Dhafra.
Despite joining the team on a six-month period, Al Ain coach Zoran Mamic opted to have El-Shahat in his AFC Champions League squad. The Emirati side will enter the competitions from the playoffs round after finishing last term’s league campaign in the fourth place.
El-Shahat received praise from Mamic who called him the “best possible signing”. By his turn, Al Ain wideman set the target of winning trophies with the team, while also leaving the possibility of staying with the Emirati club beyond this season open.
