Faouzi Benzarti appointed Wydad Casablanca coach

Faouzi Benzarti Al Ahly


announced the appointment of Tunisian coach as the club’s head coach replacing sacked manager Hussein Amotta.

Earlier in January, Wydad released a statement in which it announced the sacking of manager Hussein Amotta following poor results in the league, despite guiding the club to their 19th league title last season, as well as 2-1 aggregate win over Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League Final to give Wydad their 2nd CAFCL title in their history.

Benzarti, who possess tremendous coaching experience in North Africa leading giants like Etoile du Sahel, Club African, Esperance Sportive du Tunis, the Tunisian national team in addition to Raja Casablanca which he led to the 2013 Club World Cup final match.

The 68-year-old coach is up for a tough challenge as WAC have struggled this season, sitting in the 12th position in the league with 16 points from 14 matches, 13 points of the league leaders.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
