Momen Zakaria: Saudi league will take me to World Cup
After scoring a brace on his Al Ahli debut, Egypt’s Momen Zakaria discusses his recent transfer’s impact on his career with the club and national team.
The 29-year-old emphasized the effect of leaving an early good impression to the fans, after scoring two goals as a substitute in his debut in the Saudi Crown Prince Cup.
“The Saudi league is one of the strongest Arab leagues and qualifies me to play in the 2018 World Cup with the Egyptian national team,” said Momen in a post-match interview.
He added, “I would like to thank the coaching staff, who helped me a lot since coming here and also my teammates, including Mohamed Abdel-Shafy (former Al Ahli left back). I played to as a winger and a forward during the game and I hope I’ll be up to the coaching staff’s expectations.”
On how he chose the Saudi league, Zakaria stated, “I asked all the Egyptian players playing here in the Saudi league such as Essam El-Hadary, Mostafa Fathi and Mahmoud Kahraba, and they all praised the league’s level.”
