Official: Afroto joins Oman’s Saham on loan from Entag El-Harby
Mostafa Afroto has joined Omani Professional League side Saham Club from Entag El-Harby on loan until the end of the season.
The Omani side have announced they agreed a six-month loan deal with the former Al Ahly attacking midfielder, who joins his seventh club since leaving The Red Castle in 2012.
Afroto, a product of Al Ahly youth sector, was promoted to the Red Devils’ first team in 2009 by Al Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry. However, he left the Cairo giants three years later after loan spells at Egyptian Premier League sides Ittihad of Alexandria and Misr El-Makkasa.
The 28-year-old had a short-lived spell at Azerbaijani side Qarabağ FK in 2012 before returning to Makkasa. He then had spells at Damanhur, Ismaily, El Sharkia SC, before joining Entag El-Harby during the 2017 summer transfer window.
Afroto was regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Egyptian football after his impressive displays at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt, where he scored two goals before Egypt were eliminated in the second round by Costa Rica.
Saham Club currently sit eighth on the Omani Professional League table with 15 points after 13 games, three points away from relegation zone.
