OFFICIAL: Al Ahly duo join Smouha on loan until end of the season
The duo struggled to get enough playing time with the Red Devils and have agreed to join Smouha on loan for six months.
Hussien El-Sayed, a left-back who came through the ranks at Al Ahly, joined Misr El-Makkasa on a permanent deal in 2011, before returning back to Al Ahly three years later.
During his time at Al Ahly, he made 45 appearances for the club, scoring four goals and providing six assists. He managed to lift three league titles, three Egypt Super Cups, one Egypt Cup title and was part of the squad that reached the CAF Champions League final.
He struggled to nail down a starting place this season, making only five appearances across all competitions, scoring once against Ittihad of Alexandria and assisting in the Egypt Cup against Telefonat Beni Suef.
Meanwhile, Amr Barakat, who joined from Belgian side Lierse S.K. in January 2017, made only one single league appearance since his arrival, but he shone during the Arab Club Championship, scoring two goals, including a 92-minute winner against Algeria’s NA Hussein Dey.
He won the domestic triple with the Red Devils and will hope to win more trophies with Smouha this season.
They became the fourth and fifth players to join Smouha from Al Ahly this season after Mohamed Hamdy Zaki and Mossad Awad joined on a permanent basis and youngster Nasser Maher, who joined on loan.
Smouha are currently fourth in the Egyptian Premier League with 32 points, 16 behind leaders Al Ahly. Their next game will be against 16th-placed Wadi Degla on Monday, January 29.
