Ahmed Adel joins Misr El-Makkasa from Al Ahly
Al Ahly goalkeeper Ahmed Adel has joined Egyptian Premier League side Misr El-Makkasa on a two-and-a-half year deal, the club announced on Saturday.
Adel, who is an Al Ahly youth product, made just three appearances for the Red Devils this season, as he featured against Tanta, Smouha and Al-Nasr in the league.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper’s contract with the Red Castle was due to expire by the end of the current season and he had the chance to negotiate with other clubs.
Nonetheless, El-Makkasa decided to make further efforts in order to acquire the player on permanent basis six months earlier and their attempts were fruitful.
Makkasa are planning to include Adel in the team’s African squad as the Fayoum-based side will be taking part in the 2018 CAF Champions League after finishing second in the 2016/17 league season.
Adel was promoted from Al Ahly’s youth sector to the senior team in 2007. Since then, he made a total of 97 appearances, winning six league titles, three CAF Champions League trophies and one Confederation Cup title.
