OFFICIAL: Wadi Degla winger Mohamed Sherif joins Al Ahly

Wadi Degla’s winger has officially joined Al Ahly on a four-and-a-half-year deal, the Cairo giants announced on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old has been in fine form this season with Wadi Degla, scoring three goals and assisting four times in 20 games across all competitions.

He came so close to becoming a Zamalek player and has reportedly signed a contract with the White Knights before completing a surprising U-turn and joining the Red Devils.

He becomes Al Ahly’s fifth January signing after Salah Mohsen and Ali Lotfi from ENPPI, Ghazal El-Mahalla’s Mohamed Fakhri and Mohamed El-Gazar from Kahraba Ismailia.

The addition of Mohamed Sherif and recently-signed Salah Mohsen from ENPPI could bolster Al-Ahly’s attacking options following recent departures.

Al Ahly have already shipped out players this transfer window with the likes of Moamen Zakaria leaving for Al-Ahli Jeddah, Emad Meteb to Al-Taawoun and Saleh Gomaa potentially leaving the Red Devils for Al Faisaly.

The Reds currently top the Egyptian Premier League with 48 points, six more than second-placed Ismaily, who they will face on Tuesday at Borg El-Arab.
