Demba Ba joins Turkish outfit Göztepe
Senegalese striker Demba Ba makes his Turkish league return after joining Göztepe from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.
Ba is set to return to the Turkish Super Lig with Göztepe, after scoring 29 goals in 37 appearances for the Chinese club. The striker will be a boost to the team that currently lie seventh in the league with 31 points from 19 matches.
This isn’t Ba’s first experience in Turkey as the 35-year-old represented Besiktas when he joined from Chelsea in 2014, bagging 27 goals in 44 matches in his first season before leaving for Shanghai Shenhua in China one year later, only to be loaned back to the Turkish giants in the second year of his contract.
Göztepe SK acquired Ba’s services on a free transfer after he was released by Shenhua.
The 32-year-old striker’s new team hold the seventh place in the Turkish Süper Lig collecting 31 points after 19 rounds. The team is set to take on Trabzonspor in the 20th round of the league on Monday.
