Egypt international praised new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and confirmed that Mesut Özil has signed a new contract.

Arsenal signed Gabonese star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund on Wednesday. Although the Gunners have not yet confirmed Ozil’s contract renewal but Elneny has revealed that the German star has already extended his contract.

“We know that Aubameyang is a big player and we know his worth well. He and [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan are strong additions,” Elneny told ON Sport.

“I have not met him until now, but I am happy that he will be with us. I hope that he adapts to us quickly so he can help the team to reach our goals,” the 25-year-old midfielder added.

“I have spoken with Özil and he informed me that he extended his contract with the club. He is an important player on field. Off the field, he is a person who always gives off positive energy,” Elneny added.

“On the field, he [Özil] is a different player. Everything for him is easy and is definitely a big player,” he added.

“This will give us more consistency. No one is concentrating on new contracts or who will leave or stay. This is important so we can fully concentrate on the coming period,” Elneny reflected.

Arsenal have been struggling as they currently sit in sixth place in the with 42 points from 25 games after a shock 3-1 loss to Swansea City on Tuesday. The Gunners also crashed out of the FA Cup after another surprise defeat, this time to Championship side Nottingham Forest.
