Trezeguet surpasses best-ever goal tally in a season
Egypt international Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet has surpassed his best-ever goal tally in a single season after scoring a brace against Akhisarspor on Sunday.
The 23-year-old is currently Kasımpaşa’s top goalscorer with nine goals in 20 games, which is more than his tally at Al Ahly, Anderlecht and Royal Excel Mouscron.
The Egyptian is the fourth most African to score in the Turkish Super League this season, after Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor, Khalid Boutaïb of Morocco and Ivory Coast’s Arouna Koné.
During his time at the Red Devils, Trezeguet scored eight goals in 102 appearances, helping them win two CAF Champions League titles, one league title, one Confederation Cup and the 2014 CAF Super Cup.
He scored the same number of goals at Mouscron, but in 74 games less, and with Anderlecht he didn’t manage to score a single goal in 11 games.
Trezeguet, who is on loan at the Turkish side from Anderlecht, scored six goals in the league and three in the Turkish Cup as his side currently sit 11th in the Turkish Super League.
He helped massively in guiding Egypt for the 2018 World Cup after winning two crucial penalties during the qualifiers, including a last-gasp penalty against Congo that earned the Pharaohs their qualification to the World Cup.
