Egypt’s champion was voted as the second best lifter worldwide in 2017, per the voting on the International Federation website.

Ihab came second beating the champions of Colombia and Chile and only fell behind world’s No.1 Olympic and World champion Lasha Talakhadze in the voting, who collected 9,804 votes.

The Pharoah was voted second, earning nearly 8,491 votes, for great accomplishments and incredible displays last year, winning three golden medals in the past World Championship, becoming the first Arabic or African player to achieve such a milestone.

The Egyptian champion was also crowned with a bronze medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics of Rio de Janeiro and will be hoping to claim the gold in the coming 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
