VIDEO: Sarah Essam nominated for Stoke City Ladies Goal of the Month award
Essam joined Stoke City from Wadi Degla after a successful season, which saw her win both the league and cup titles with the Egyptian side in 2017. Before completing her transfer, Sarah had been on trials with Sunderland, Birmingham, and Derby.
On her first match after signing, Sarah Essam scored a header in a friendly for the Stoke City Ladies first team. She has scored three goals in her three games for the Stoke City Ladies Development squad in January alone.
Her nominated curling shot came in the 11-0 thrashing of Pelsall Villa on January 7 in the Staffordshire Girls and Ladies Football League. She also scored a brace in the team’s match against Goldenhill Wanderers Development on January 28.
Stoke City Ladies Development team currently sit in fourth place with 25 points from 10 games this season. The team will next take on Abbey Hulton United on February 11. Meanwhile, the first team will take on Huddersfield Town on February 18 in the Premier League.
