Mostafa Fathi ruled out for rest of the season with knee injury
Egypt international has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury, Saudi side have announced.

The 23-year-old has joined Al Taawon on loan last summer from Zamalek, but his time in Saudi Arabia has been plagued with injuries, making only nine appearances, in which he scored five goals.

Fathi’s last appearance for the Saudi side came in December, when he managed to score a hattrick against Al-Feiha and without him, the club may struggle to finish in the top four places.

The injury may cost the talented a winger a place in the World Cup, with Momen Zakaria, Walid Soliman, Ahmed El-Sheikh and Hussein El-Shahat performing well with their teams.

Fathi was part of the Egypt team that qualified for the 2018 World Cup, but his last international appearance came last June against Tunisia in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.
