Egypt international played 90 minutes as qualified for the UEFA Round of 16.

Elneny also played the entire match as Arsenal beat Östersunds FK 3-0 in the first leg of the Round of 32.

The Swedish side had an early chance as Rob Holding gave the ball away 25 yards out. Jamie Hopcutt made his way into the box before Héctor Bellerín made a tackle to stop Hopcutt.

Despite dominating dominance in the early stages, Arsenal once again found themselves on the defensive end as Hopcutt’s shot was blocked by Calum Chambers. Few minutes later, Nigerian international Alex Iwobi had a shot go high and wide from goal.

In the 22nd minute, Palestinian Hosam Aiesh scored into the far corner after Holding failed to intercept the pass to Aiesh. With his goal, Aiesh became the first Palestinian to ever score in the UEFA Europa League. Quickly after, Ken Sema sent a rocket left-footed shot into corner past Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina.

Östersunds FK continued to dominate the half till Danny Welbeck headed Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s free-kick into the hands of the Swedish-side’s keeper. Even though Arsenal started to get back into the game in the later stages of the half, the Gunners entered half-time with a 2-0 deficit, but 3-2 advantage on aggregate.

Early in the second half, Sead Kolašinac gave Arsenal more breathing room as he scored a volley from Bellerín’s cross.

Arsenal continued to dominate the closing stages of the match to secure their place in the Round of 16. The draw for the next stage will take place on Friday February 23 with the first legs of the Round of 16 to be played during the week of March 5.

In the meantime, Arsenal will take on Manchester City on Sunday February 25 in the Carabao Cup before hosting the Cityzens in the Premier League on Thursday March 1.
