Amr Barakat unhappy after King’s Cup elimination

Al Ahly loanee expressed his unhappiness after Al Shabab were eliminated by Mahmoud ’s Al from the Saudi Arabia King’s Cup quarter-final.

The Egyptian midfielder come on as a second half substitute in his team’s 3-1 loss against Kahraba’s Ittihad in the Cup at the King Abdallah Sports City at Jeddah. The 26-year-old, who assisted his side’s only goal in the game, is unhappy with his side’s poor run of results.

“We were hoping to defeat Ittihad in the game tonight and continue our road in the Cup but things didn’t go our way and we lost,” Barakat said.

“I hoped this game would be our way back to winning ways after a period of bad results but in spite of our good performance we keep losing games. We will try to get back on the right track in our next game against Ittihad in the league,” he added.

Barakat spoke about his relationship with his fellow Egyptians in the Saudi Pro League saying: “I am always in touch with my Egyptian colleagues in Saudi teams and they offer me constant support.”

“Kahraba is a big player and we both played together at Al Ahly youth ranks. I wish him the best of luck with Ittihad and the Egyptian national team,” he added.

Barakat also thanked the Egyptian fans for supporting him in training and in matches and promised Al Shabab fans to give his best for the team.

Youssef Wael is a massive Al Ahly and Manchester United supporter from Cairo, Egypt. One of the few Egyptians who never really wanted to have a career in football, just played it as a hobby. Wael also played squash for 7 years.
