VIDEO: Hussein El-Shahat scores, assists as Al Ain beat Al Wahda

Misr El-Makkasa loanee scored and assisted twice as Al Ain beat 2-0 in the 18th week of the .

Al Ain entered the match in first place with 38 points form 17 games after losing 3-1 to Al Sharjah last Saturday. Meanwhile, Al Wahda entered the match in second place with 37 points from 17 games after drawing 0-0 with Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai.

The first half began at a slow pace, but a wonderful through ball from Hussein El-Shahat perfectly set up Marcus Berg to score Al Ain’s first goal in the 32nd minute. Berg’s goal was his 13th league goal this season.

Ten minutes later, scorer became provider as Berg assisted Caio who scored his fourth league goal of the campaign. The final minutes of the half saw Al Ain dominate, but failed to capitalize on any chances.

The opening minutes of the second half saw passes traded between the teams in the midfield. However, Al Wahda made an impactful substitute in the 65th minute with the introduction of Balázs Dzsudzsák. Dzsudzsák scored a brace within five minutes of entering the field bring his tally to six goals this league season.

Only two minutes after Al Wahda equalized, another assist from El-Shahat saw Berg score Al Ain’s third goal. Omar Abdelrahman extended Al Ain’s lead three minutes later from a well-executed free-kick to record his third goal of the league campaign.

Ten minutes before full-time Hussein El-Shahat got in on the action and scored his seventh goal since joining Al Ain. In injury time, El-Shahat added his third assist of the game as substitute Rayan Yaslam scored Al Ain’s sixth goal. Since joining ‘The Boss’ El-Shahat has scored seven goals and provided nine assists in just 10 games.

The result keeps Al Ain in first place with 41 points, while Al Wahda remain in second place with 37 points. Al Ain will next face Esteghlal Tehran in the third matchday of the AFC Champions League. Meanwhile, Al Wahda will face Zob Ahan Isfahan in the same competition.
