Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ breaks Ahmed Hassan’s record in Turkey
Trezeguet enjoyed an extraordinary season in Turkey this season with Kasımpaşa. The 23-year-old midfielder has featured for the Istanbul-based club 23 times this season in the Süper Lig and Türkiye Kupasi. He scored an impressive 11 goals, eight in the league and three in the cup.
The Pharaoh has easily outscored his teammates, scoring at least five more than any one of them. In addition, according to WhoScored, Trezeguet has completed 62 dribbles, at least 13 more than any of his teammates. His performances have reportedly caught the eyes of many clubs, including Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Trezeguet’s performances have been considered record breaking for Egyptians who played in Turkey. Before this season, legendary Egypt national team captain Ahmed Hassan was the Egyptian with the most goals in one season in all Turkish competitions. He scored nine goals, all in the Süper Lig, in the 2004/05 season with Beşiktas.
With 11 goals to his name, Trezeguet has etched his name in the record books becoming the Egyptian with the most goals in one season in all Turkish competitions. He will have the opportunity to add more goals to his name on Saturday as Kasımpaşa take on Osmanlıspor in the 24th week of the Süper Lig.
