Jamie Carragher: Salah is not a winger, he is a goal-scorer
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher knew the moment he saw Mohamed Salah in Liverpool’s red kit that the Egyptian would fire more than 20 goals this season.
Although Salah did not shine in his first Premier League spell with Chelsea, his scintillating football in Serie A with both Fiorentina and Roma pushed the Red English giants to give the Pharaoh another chance in most competitive league in Europe.
Salah hit the ground and running, as he proved his worth for Liverpool and continued his virtuoso displays in consistency for the club, according to Carragher.
“Nobody anticipated the Egyptian would be in such exalted company when he came from Roma described as a winger, especially after his earlier spell at Chelsea was limited to six league games.
“But when I saw him play at Watford on the opening day of the season I felt I was watching a player who could get 20 goals.
“It was not his finishing that caught the eye but the quality of his runs which were so penetrating he could have had a hat-trick that first day.
“It was clear then Salah is not a winger at all. He is a goal-scorer.”
Along with Harry Kane, Lionel Messi and Edison Cavani, Salah now has 24 goals in the league as he has his name next to the world’s most prestigious goal scorers.
