VOLLEYBALL: Al Ahly, Al Shams discover African Championship opponents
Egypt representatives Al Ahly and Al-Shams have discovered their opponents in the 2018 Women’s African Volleyball Club Championship.
The tournament which will take place from March 4 to March 16 is hosted by Al Ahly and will be played at Abdallah El-Faisal and The Martyrs halls.
Al Ahly were drawn in Pool A with Nkumba University from Uganda, Cameroon’s Nyong, and Revenue of Rwanda.
The Red Devils’ opening game will be against Nkumba University, before facing Revenue and Nyong.
Meanwhile, Al-Shams Club are in Pool C with Cameroon’s FAP, Pipeline from Kenya, DGSSP of Congo, and Uganda’s Vision.
Al-Shams will start their campaign by facing Pipeline then Vision, FAP, and DGSP.
Pool B consists of Tunisian side CF Carthage, Zimbabwe’s Harare City, Algeria’s Chlef, BDF of Botswana, and Cameroon’s Bafia.
While Kenya’s Prisons, Injs of Cameroon, Burkina’s Douanes- Nigerian side Customs, and Asec of Cote d’Ivoire, were drawn in Pool D.
It’s worth mentioning that Al Ahly are the record holders with eight titles under their name, while Al-Shams were the runners-up of the 2017 tournament after losing to Tunisia’s CF Carthage.
