Ehab Galal concerned about Welayta Dicha clash
Galal revealed that the club aims to win the Confederation Cup for the first time and assured that his players are up for the challenge.
The coach spoke about the game in a press conference on Tuesday and explained his few concerns before the two teams lock horns.
“To begin with, this will be the team’s first match in the championship and the first match is always the hardest,” Galal said. “The start of the championship is always special and some of our players are playing in the Confederation Cup for the first time.”
The White knights have settled on March 18 for the home leg clash with Welayta Dicha, which is set to be held at the Army Stadium in Suez. The club requested authorities to allow 20,000 fans to attend the team’s first home game in the competition.
“The presence of experienced players like Ahmed El-Shennawy, Hazem Emam, Tarek Hamed, Moruf Yusuf and Hamdy El-Nagguez can help create a balance for the team,” he added.
Zamalek qualified to Africa’s second-tier club competition after finishing third in the Egyptian Premier League last season. Meanwhile, Dicha were crowned champions of the Ethiopian league and managed to qualify to the round of 32 of the competition after beating Zanzibar’s Zimamoto 2-1 on aggregate in the preliminary round.
Galal is also worried about the poor nature of the pitch, something that he thinks will force him to make a few technical amends regarding the team’s strategy.
