Al Ahly: Walid Azaro is ten times better than Souleymane Coulibaly

Al Ahly’s head of transfers committee Adly El-Qeiy has spoken about the rise of Moroccan forward since joining the Red Devils.

Azaro has had an incredible season for Al Ahly so far this season, contributing to an impressive 20 goals and four assists in 29 games.

After impressing with the Cairo giants, Azaro was recently called-up to the Morocco national team and could potentially be part of their World Cup’s squad in Russia.

“When left, no one expected that he could be replaced by a player who is ten times better than him,” El-Qeiy told Al Ahly’s official TV channel.

Ivorian striker Souleymane Coulibaly had left Al Ahly just nine months ago after a fallout with the board with several accusations thrown from both parties.

“He [Walid Azaro] quickly adapted to life here and he got along well with his teammates too, whereas Coulibaly couldn’t handle the pressure at such a big club.

“I think Azaro has been performing very well for us and he has quickly shut his critics as he’s the league’s top scorer now.

“He recently got called up to the Moroccan national team too and that shows how much he developed here at Al Ahly,” El-Qeiy concluded.

Coulibaly joined Al Ahly in January 2017 from Scottish side Kilmarnock, scoring six goals in 12 appearances across all competitions before fleeing Egypt.
