Hossam El-Badry hails his players after winning Egyptian Premier League
Al Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry has praised his players for managing to overcome many hardships after securing the league title.
Al Ahly have officially been crowned as Egyptian League champions following Al Masry’s goalless draw with Entag El-Harby on Monday, which makes it impossible for Port-Said based club to catch the Red Devils.
The league title became El-Badry’s sixth trophy with the Red Devils since his first stint in 2010. The 57-year-old managed to lift the league title three times, the 2012 CAF Champions League, the Egyptian Cup, and Super Cup titles.
And now he will shift the focus on the CAF Champions League, which has been missing from Al Ahly’s trophy cabinet since 2013.
“I’m very happy for winning the league title. Claiming the title with six weeks to spare makes me much happier,” El-Badry told Al Ahly’s official website.
“Al Ahly have shown a spectacular performance for the second season in a row, and this delights me. I thank everyone for their efforts during the season.
“We faced many hardships during the season and that pushed us to win the title.
“The timing of winning the title is ideal as we can now prepare for other competitions like the CAF Champions League and Egypt Cup,” he added.
Al Ahly will face CF Mounana in the return-leg of the round of 32 of the CAF Champions League on Saturday, March 17. The Red Devils managed to win 4-0 in the first-leg.
