Marwan Mohsen returns as Cuper names local-based squad for Portugal, Greece friendlies

coach Hector Cuper has announced his squad of local-based players for the Pharaohs March training camp which will see them face Portugal and Greece.

Cuper has picked his foreign-based squad for the March friendlies, featuring 17 players, where Bidvest Wits’ striker Amr Gamal was excluded, but Al Ain’s Hussein El-Shahat made the squad for the first time.

The list of local-based players saw the return of Al Ahly striker Marwan Mohsen for the first since the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. ENPPI midfielder Mohamed Magdy and Al Ahly defender Ayman Ashraf were among the new faces within Egypt’s squad.

On the other hand, Al Ahly goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy lost his place in the squad for his teammate Mohamed El-Shennawy who occupied the starting role with the Red Devils as of late.

Egypt’s local-based squad:

Goalkeepers: Ahmed El-Shennawy (Zamalek), Mohamed El-Shennawy (Al Ahly), Mohamed Awad (Ismaily).

Defenders: Ahmed Fathi (Al Ahly), Ayman Ashraf (Al Ahly), Saad Samir (Al Ahly).

Midfielders: Tarek Hamed (Zamalek), Hossam Ashour (Al Ahly), Mohamed Magdy (ENPPI), Abdallah El-Said (Al Ahly).

Strikers: Marwan Mohsen (Al Ahly).
