Al Ahly women volleyball team have been crowned 2018 women’s African Club Championship champions, after beating Tunisian side CF de Carthage 3-0 in the final.
The Red Devils had a very successful campaign as they’ve beaten Nigeria’s Custom 3-0 in the quarter-final, before beating Kenya Pipeline in the semi-final.
The hosts had a very good start to the game at Al Ahly Hall in Cairo as they’ve beaten the title holders 25-9 in the first set. Carthage seemed to have a quick response but the hosts had other thoughts and managed to end the second set with a 29-27 win.
The 2016 title winners made sure to end the game on a high note as they were able to win the third and final set with a staggering 25-8 scoreline.
Following this result the Red Castle have earned their ninth African title and affirmed themselves as the best team in the tournament’s history, as their closest rival is Kenya Pipeline with just five titles.
