Egypt drop one place to 44th in FIFA March rankings
Egypt have moved down one place to the 44th spot in FIFA’s monthly global football rankings released on Thursday.
The Pharaohs currently have 687 points in the rankings and sit fifth amongst other teams in the African continent, following Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal and Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The list saw a decline for two of Egypt’s group stage opponents in the upcoming World Cup, as Saudi Arabia fell to 69th position, so did Russia who went two places down to be in 62nd place. Meanwhile, Uruguay remained in the 22nd place.
The top 10 positions saw only Poland jumping to sixth position, while Germany maintained their place on top of the FIFA rankings, followed by Brazil, and Portugal respectively.
Egypt’s national team have not played a single tie since their game with Ghana last November in the World Cup qualifiers.
