Michael Skibbe names Greece squad for Egypt friendly

manager Michael Skibbe has named his 27-man squad for the March friendlies against Switzerland and .

The 2004 Euro winners will face Switzerland on March 23 at Athens Olympic Stadium, before travelling to Switzerland to play against the Pharaohs four days later.

Greece have not qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 2010, but are preparing for the UEFA Nations League and 2020 UEFA Euro qualifiers.

The most notable names in the squad are Konstantinos Mitroglou, defenders Kostas Manolas and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, and goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis.

However, the squad sees the omission of Giannis Maniatis, Apostolos Vellios, and Dimitris Diamantakos, but the German manager included Dimitris Limnios, Efthymis Koulouris, Andreas Gianniotis, and Vasilis Barkas for the first time.

Full squad:

Goalkeepers: Karnezis (Watford), Gianniotis (Atromitos), Barkas (AEK).

Defenders: Torosidis (Bologna), Bakakis (AEK), Stafylidis (Stoke City), Manolas (Roma), Papastathopoulos (Dortmund), Lykogiannis (Cagliari), Tzavellas (Alaynaspor), Retsos (Leverkusen), Papadopoulos (Hamburg).

Midfielders: Tachtsidis (Olympiacos), Tziolis (Al-Fayha FC), Pelkas (PAOK), Kourbelis (Panathinaikos), Zeca (FC Kobenhavn), Samaris (Benfica), Fortounis (Olympiacos), Christodoulopoulos (AEK).

Strikers: Bakasetas (AEK), Mitroglou (Marseille), Karelis (Genk), Gianniotas (Valladolid), Donis (Stuttgart), Limnios (PAOK), Koulouris (PAOK).
