Goalless draw is enough to take Al Masry through to the next round
Thanks to a draw in Tanzania, Al Masry did not need to score at Port Said stadium to go through to the next round of CAF Confederation Cup.
Following a 2-2 draw in the first leg with Ahmed Gomaa and Ahmed Shoukry on the scoresheet, Al Masry needed to keep a clean sheet in Port Said to qualify to the last 16 and although they failed to score, a tie was enough for Al Masry to progress.
Al Masry had the better chances of the match, and the Simba goalkeeper was crucial in keeping a clean sheet for the Tanzanian side.
The Egyptian team dominated possession against Simba, to achieve this great result tonight.
Al Masry qualified for the 32nd round of the Confederation in the 16 teams that took part in the tournament since its inception, joining 16 teams and calling the Champions League from the role of the 32.
Hossam Hassan’s troops have qualified for the second year in a row.
The draw for the 32nd round of the Confederation Cup is scheduled next Wednesday in Cairo.
