Mohamed Salah nets four as Liverpool thrash Watford
Egypt International Mohamed Salah scored a super hat-trick as Liverpool thrashed Watford 5-0 in the 31st round of the English Premier League.
Salah became the first Egyptian player ever to score a hat-trick in the Premier League. He also cruised past Fernando Torres’ record of 33 competitive goals for a debut player at Anfield.
The Egyptian winger is currently leading the Premier League top-scorers race with 28 goals, four away from second-placed Harry Kane.
Salah didn’t have to wait long to start his goal feast, as he managed to put his side in front after just four minutes. The Egypt international received a brilliant ball from Mane before beating two Watford defenders and sending the ball into the bottom of the net.
Two minutes away from the half-time whistle, the former Chelsea winger gave Liverpool a two-goal lead as he met Andy Robertson’s perfect cross with a single touch into the net.
The 25-year-old winger continued his impressive performance in the second half as he needed just four minutes to assist Liverpool’s third goal to Roberto Firmino who met Salah’s cross with a flick shot.
After some quiet 30 minutes, Salah completed his hat-trick. Mane did superb work on the right side, before finding Salah in the box who dribbled past Watford defenders before tapping in the bottom left corner.
Five minutes away from the final whistle, Liverpool started a quick counterattack that ended at Ings’s feet whose effort was denied by the keeper before Salah turned the rebound in the net.
The three points sends Liverpool back to third place with 63 points, two away from fourth-paced Tottenham who have a game in hand.
